The Australian Hellenic Educators’ Association (AHEA)
invites the Greek Community of Sydney & NSW and
 friends of the Greek Language & Culture to the
2010 Annual Hellenic Language Awards Ceremony.

Date: Sunday 14 March 2010
Time: 2:00pm-5.00pm
Venue: Lecture Theatre 1, Building X5B, Macquarie University.
Enter via Epping rd, then Balaclava rd & straight to the parking. Follow the posted signs then to the venue.

The Hellenic Awards are presented in the following categories:

•    “Athena” Awards: the top 2009 Higher School Certificate students in the Modern Greek language and Classical Greek language (Beginners’, Continuers’ and Extension courses)
•    “Alexander” the Great-the Macedonian Awards: the top 2009 Higher School Certificate students in the Ancient History course (Greek option)
•    “Platonas” Awards: Saturday Schools secondary students excelling in their studies of the Modern Greek language
•    “Socrates” Awards: tertiary students excelling in their studies in the Modern Greek and Classical Greek departments of Universities in N.S.W.
•    “Socrates” Awards: adult non-Greek background students excelling in their studies of the Modern Greek Language at Evening/Community College level
•    “Kosmas the Aitolos” Awards: distinguished educators and supporters of the Greek language at all Greek Language providers
•    “Phevos” Awards: Primary school students excelling in their Greek language studies at all Greek Language providers, government and private sectors.
•    Special Awards: the students who participated in the 2009 Greek Language & Culture Promotion Week Poster Competition

The NSW Departnent of Education’s Saturday School of Community Languages (SSCL)

informs the Greek Community of Sydney and NSW, parents and students, that it offers, free of charge, Modern Greek Junior classes for Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and Modern Greek Senior classes for Years 11 and 12, including HSC level (Continuers and Extension courses)  at the following Saturday School High School Centres:
